The controversy surrounding the popular Jungle Padel club in the village of Munggu has taken a new turn. Authorities sealed the facility on December 31, 2025, but just two months later the courts are once again full of players.

The situation has raised eyebrows, since the club’s operations were officially suspended after an inspection by a special commission of the regional parliament (Pansus TRAP).
The story began with a review of the club’s construction permits. The commission discovered that the business had only received an online recommendation through Indonesia’s OSS licensing system.
However, the owners never obtained a local building permit from the Badung regency government. On top of that, the club was built on LP2B protected land—a designated reserve of rice fields where development is prohibited by law. These agricultural areas are protected to safeguard the island’s food security.
I Made Supartha, chairman of the special commission, said he only recently learned that the club had resumed operations. According to him, he has still not received any reports from the municipal enforcement agency Satpol PP. The politician is now demanding an explanation and wants to see the legal basis that allowed the club to reopen.
Meanwhile, Bali Police chief I Dewa Nyoman Rai Dharmadi shifted responsibility to officials in Badung. He confirmed that the case had been handed over to the regency authorities in early March. Investigators also found that the issue goes beyond the padel courts—other buildings have been constructed on nearby agricultural land as well.
Authorities are now discussing the possibility of introducing a construction moratorium in the area. Officials want to completely halt new developments in Munggu, similar to the restrictions already imposed in Jatiluwih, in an effort to stop the ongoing loss of rice fields.
The Jungle Padel case could ultimately determine what carries more weight: the national OSS online licensing system or local regulations that prohibit construction on protected farmland.
