For the first time, Bali is hosting a stage of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series — an international series of cliff diving competitions. The event runs from 21 to 23 May 2026 at Broken Beach on Nusa Penida, in Klungkung Regency.

Initially, some of the rounds were planned to take place at Kroya Waterfall in the village of Sambangan in northern Bali. However, that location was dropped: after rainfall and sediment from upstream, the water depth changed, and the organisers decided to move all dives to Broken Beach. The decision was made for the athletes’ safety.
A total of 24 athletes are competing: 12 men and 12 women. Women dive from 21 metres, men from 27 metres. On entry into the water, speeds can reach around 85 kilometres per hour.
The venue is on the open ocean, where currents and waves are strong, so the Indonesian Navy has been brought in for safety. They have provided the KRI Surabaya, two helicopters, eight inflatable boats, four rigid inflatable boats, combat swimmers and divers. The competition area is to be closed to spectators during the dives.
After Bali, the Red Bull Cliff Diving series will continue in other countries. The Indonesian stage is scheduled to be broadcast on Red Bull TV on 24 May at 20:00 Bali time.
