Naked Foreigner Runs Through Central Jakarta Square

An unusual incident occurred in the heart of Indonesia's capital. At the square by the famous National Monument Monas in Jakarta, the police detained a foreigner who was running without clothes and shoes.
According to witnesses, it all began when the man suddenly appeared at the eastern gate of the monument in the nude. The stunned law enforcement officers tried to stop him, but he ran towards the monument where he was eventually detained on the steps.
The detainee turned out to be a 36-year-old Russian citizen named Viktor. He said he had just returned from a solo hike to the Bromo volcano in East Java. According to him, he destroyed his passport immediately upon arrival at Jakarta airport. The man admitted he was suffering from depression.
The police treated the detainee with understanding — they fed him, allowed him to clean up, and rest. After that, the Russian was taken to the Central Police Station for further investigation, and then handed over to immigration authorities.
This unusual case sparked lively discussion on social media. Some users joke that the tourist just wanted to "refresh" himself in the hot Indonesian climate, while others express sympathy for the person who is clearly in a difficult life situation.
The future for the Russian national is still unknown. The immigration service must decide on his status in the country, considering the lack of documents and his mental state.
