Bali has seen a sharp rise in the number of tourists from the Middle East. According to Bali’s statistics agency, 4,640 people from the region visited the island in April 2026, while in May the figure rose to 9,817. This represents an increase of 111.57%.

The biggest increases were among tourists from Saudi Arabia and Egypt. This is being linked to the resumption of flights after disruptions caused by the conflict in the Middle East. Some flights were cancelled in April, which led to a drop in arrivals from the region.
Overall foreign tourist arrivals in Bali also rose in May, but much more modestly — by 4.5% compared with April. However, May’s figures have not yet reached last year’s level: compared with 2025, the number of foreign tourists was down by 3.98%.
Bali’s tourism department says that, amid geopolitical instability, the island is currently focusing on closer markets — countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, China, India, South Korea and Japan.
