The Regional Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) in Denpasar has issued a warning about potential high tides along the Bali coast until October 25, 2025.

The head of BMKG III, Cahyo Nugroho, explained that the rise in water levels is associated with the new moon phase on October 21. During this period, the gravitational effects of the Moon and the Sun combine, intensifying the forces and causing temporary peaks in tidal activity.
The southern coastal regions, including Jembrana, Tabanan, Badung, Denpasar, Gianyar, Klungkung, and Karangasem, are at risk of high tides. The height of the tides will vary depending on the date and time. Temporary flooding may occur in certain low-lying areas, especially in ports, coastal villages, and fish farms.
BMKG clarifies that this is not an 'annual maximum' but a predictable period that repeats several times a year, linked to lunar cycles rather than weather phenomena. The warning has been issued because the coincidence of the new moon, tidal activity, and weather conditions could lead to a significant rise in water levels.
Residents and businesses in coastal areas are advised to exercise caution, limit activities near the ocean, and monitor forecast updates. The tides will be particularly pronounced on the southern coast—in areas such as Tanah Lot, Jimbaran, and Sanur—where waves may reach high temple terraces and promenades.
