The inspection was carried out without prior notice. Several officers were randomly selected and required to undergo urine drug tests conducted by the Narcotics Unit and Bali Police’s Internal Affairs Division.
Following the positive result, MDP was placed under an internal investigation. Authorities are now examining how long the officer may have been using the drug and where it was obtained.
If the allegations are confirmed, the officer could face disciplinary sanctions, a police ethics hearing, dismissal from the force, and, if sufficient evidence is found, criminal charges.
Bali Police said that surprise drug testing will continue across the force. Future inspections will target not only rank-and-file officers but also senior officials at the provincial, district, and local police station levels.
