What comes to mind when you think of Jepara, a city in Central Java? Many would say it's known for producing exquisite furniture. However, Jepara is famous for more than just that. This city holds something new and interesting. Scenic tourist spots, beaches, white sand, forests, hills, magnificent waterfalls, and more. Let's explore Jepara from a new perspective — a city that inspires more!
Karimunjawa National Park

One of the popular tourist attractions in Jepara and a favorite among travelers is Karimunjawa National Park. Comprising 27 small islands, it boasts extraordinary natural beauty. Clear ocean, stunning coral reefs, and splendid expanses. You can enjoy snorkeling, diving, or fishing with good company.
The islands also feature mangrove forests — a living blend of land and sea creating a unique ecosystem. Visiting Karimunjawa National Park requires some patience, as it takes about 2-3 hours by sea from Kartini Harbor in Jepara. The entrance fee to Jepara's tourist zone for both locals and tourists is around 5000 IDR on weekdays and about 7500 IDR on holidays. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office located at Kartini Harbor. An additional fee of around 100,000 IDR or more is charged for snorkeling or diving. Hotels are located near the park. Prices start from 500 thousand IDR per night.
Kartini Beach

Kartini Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Jepara, frequently visited by tourists for its stunning views. Visitors can enjoy the scenery, feel the soft, white sand underfoot, take boat rides, play giant chess, and try various amusement rides. On the outskirts of Kartini Beach, there is a huge turtle-shaped building. You can take photos against it or relax in a gazebo at the beach's edge. The entrance ticket costs 5000 IDR, and additional fees apply for attractions. Prices for other entertainment, parking, bike rental, and park hours are detailed on the official website: https://pantaikartini.com.
Kartini Museum

Kartini Museum is situated north of Jepara Square in Central Java. This museum is a historical and tourist attraction, created to commemorate the contributions of Raden Ajeng Kartini, a national heroine of Indonesia who fought for women's rights. She advocated for education, opposed discrimination, and supported the possibilities for work, creativity, and self-expression. Her ideas are reflected in the book Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang, a collection of letters on the struggle for women's rights. In honor of her contributions, Kartini Day is celebrated on April 21st. The museum comprises three buildings shaped like the letters K, T, and N — an abbreviation for Kartini. It houses relics of R.A. Kartini and her brother Sosro Kartono.
Interestingly, ancient items found in the Jepara Regency area are stored in four rooms of the museum, along with other relics and photographs. Additionally, Jepara is known for its famous crafts: bamboo and rattan weaving ‘troso ikat’. On the museum premises, there is a T-shaped building that houses the bones of a giant fish known as the Old Fish Joko. These bones belong to an elephant whale with a trunk that lived in the waters around the Karimunjawa Islands.
The entrance fee is 5000 IDR for children and 8000 IDR for adults.
