The road surface is being raised so that the street floods less, and culverts are being laid underneath it. The street links West Denpasar with Seminyak, and during the day traffic moves along it as usual.
The stretch from the junction with Jalan Yudistira to Jalan Gunung Athena will be closed completely. At night, only motorbikes will be let through from Jalan Gunung Tangkuban Perahu onto Bidadari, and only residents of the street will be allowed onto Gunung Athena.
The detour goes via Sunset Road. From Denpasar, drivers reach it through Kerobokan, past the prison, while from Seminyak they take Sunset Road and Jalan Nakula to get to Jalan Imam Bonjol.
Part of the detour through Kerobokan runs along one-way streets. That traffic scheme was introduced in December to ease severe congestion and eliminate junctions where traffic flows crossed. After four months of testing, it was made permanent in April.
Kunti II is one of the most problematic spots in Seminyak when flooding hits. An irrigation canal runs nearby, sitting higher than the roadway, and during downpours water from it spills onto the road. In December 2025, tourists were evacuated from here because of flooding, and officials had already proposed raising the road above the canal back in February.
