In Bali, a local taxi driver argued with customers during a trip from Tibubeneng to Pererenan. The passenger, Indonesian blogger Gebby Vesta, said the driver put pressure on her foreign companion and tried to get an extra payment on top of the agreed fare. The argument near the Circle K minimarket on Jalan Semat was caught on video and spread on social media. The driver later apologised at a meeting attended by North Kuta police, and Gebby Vesta forgave him.

The trip took place on 31 May. Near the Miss Fish restaurant, the passengers agreed a fare of 300,000 rupiah with a local taxi driver. Gebby Vesta later said she had initially booked an online taxi for 78,000 rupiah, but cancelled the order and chose the local driver because she felt sorry for him.
On the way, it turned out that the foreign passenger had no cash. He asked the driver to stop at an ATM. The driver followed him, which made Gebby Vesta suspicious. The passenger then realised he had left his card in the ATM and asked to go back. After these stops, the driver began talking about an extra payment.
The dispute continued near Circle K on Jalan Semat in Tibubeneng. In the video, the driver was accused of pressuring the passengers and trying to get more money from them.
North Kuta police questioned the driver at his home in Dalung. According to the police, the conflict may have started because of a misunderstanding over the extra payment: the route had changed, the driver wanted to discuss the fare, and the passengers saw this as pressure.
In the end, the foreign passenger paid only the initially agreed 300,000 rupiah and asked the driver to leave. After the argument, Gebby Vesta and her companion reached their villa in another car booked through an app.
The driver admitted that he had behaved wrongly and apologised to the passengers. He was not detained.
