This is a one-off boost to the existing service: the departure from Jakarta is scheduled for 24 March, with the return flight from Amsterdam on 25 March.
Flight GA088 will depart Jakarta at 22:50 and arrive in Amsterdam at 07:50 the next day, local time. The return flight GA089 will leave the Netherlands at 11:05 and arrive in Jakarta at 07:20 the following day. Garuda plans to operate this extra service with a Boeing 777-300ER.
Garuda currently flies between Jakarta and Amsterdam twice a week. The airline cites growing demand for travel to Europe amid the closure of parts of the airspace. Separately, Garuda has already announced that it will increase the frequency on this route from July 2026.
Due to the conflict in the Middle East, some foreign airlines, including Qatar Airways and Emirates, cancelled or limited flights, while Garuda did not suspend its Amsterdam route and instead rerouted it via Cairo. The Indonesian carrier’s direct route has become one of the workable alternatives amid disruptions for airlines that usually carry passengers to Europe via Middle Eastern hubs.
Garuda sells through tickets from Denpasar to Amsterdam via Jakarta under a single booking. So this extra departure could give island residents and visitors another option to travel to Europe without relying on Middle Eastern carriers.
