The airline assessed the most promising routes and decided to start with Australia and South Korea.
Garuda has developed a phased plan to increase flight frequency, with the first part implemented in July this year. More flights are now available from Sydney, Melbourne, and Seoul.
These routes are now daily:
1. Denpasar - Sydney.
2. Denpasar - Melbourne.
3. Denpasar - Seoul.
"The increased frequency of daily direct international flights is expected to offer additional benefits for fans of this airline, particularly in terms of more flexible travel arrangements," said Garuda Indonesia CEO Irfan Setiaputra. According to Irfan, the company's new strategy aligns with the government's goal of welcoming 7 million foreign tourists to Bali in 2024.
In addition to international flights, the company has also increased the frequency of several domestic routes. Among them are Denpasar - Yogyakarta, which was previously operated five times a week, and Denpasar - Surabaya, the second-largest city in Java after Jakarta, which was also operated five times a week. The new flights will be conducted using narrow-body Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
