A tourist was robbed in southern Bali. It happened on Pantai Bingin street in Pecatu.
According to CCTV footage, the woman was walking alone along the road. A person on a motorbike approached her from behind, snatched her bag and rode away. The force of the pull made the tourist fall onto the road.
The CCTV footage appeared on social media and was picked up by local media. South Kuta police then went to the scene, began checking camera recordings and started looking for witnesses.
However, the victim has not yet made an official report. Police are asking the tourist herself, or anyone who saw the attack, to contact the nearest police station. They say the investigation may take longer without a report, although checks into the viral video have already begun.
Bali generally remains a calm and safe place, but it is still worth taking basic precautions in tourist areas. It is better to keep your bag on the side away from the road, especially on narrow streets without pavements. Late in the evening and at night, it is safer not to walk alone along empty stretches of road, but to call a taxi.
