If you were planning to travel by sea from southern Bali to Java, this option is no longer available. The Express Bahari 1F fast ferry between Denpasar and Banyuwangi officially stopped operating on 2 July.

The route from Serangan was launched as a convenient alternative to the long journey via western Bali, making it possible to reach eastern Java in just a few hours. It could have been useful for those travelling to Ijen, Banyuwangi or further across the island. The first Express Bahari 1F sailing took place on 23 July 2025. Departures were scheduled almost every day, with tickets costing around 275,000 rupiah.
However, the route never became popular. In autumn 2025, sailings were temporarily suspended for maintenance. At the time, Denpasar’s transport department said there were on average 75–100 passengers on board, despite a capacity of around 400 seats. As a result, occupancy remained at about 15%, and the company removed the boat from the route.
For trips from Bali to Java, the usual route is once again the only option: travel to the west of the island, cross the strait on a regular ferry, and then continue your journey through Java.
MyBaliTrips can organise your entire trip to Java’s volcanoes: comfortable transfers, trusted hotels, route support and assistance at every stage of the journey. All you have to do is enjoy the adventure and discover the wonders of Java.
