Experience the Magic of Balinese Culture at the Bedugul Festival!

Bali: A Fantastic Destination for New Year’s and Christmas Celebrations
While there’s never any snow on Bali, the island is always filled with the festive spirit. Balinese locals go above and beyond to organize a variety of events and special performances for those celebrating this joyful season.
During the Christmas and New Year holidays, special cultural festivals will be held at the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Bedugul for tourists. A series of events titled “The Culture of Ulun Danu Beratan” will feature a stunning Balinese parade running from December 24 to January 5.
Made Sukarta, Head of Public Relations for Ulun Danu Beratan, shared that the parade will showcase diverse forms of art and cultural performances from 18 traditional villages, which are part of the local gebog satakan collective.
Sukarta promised that the parade would include a Kecak dance telling the legend of Ulun Danu Beratan, along with various traditional Balinese art performances. The opening ceremony will take place at The Bloom Garden, a tourist attraction near the temple.
Following the opening, events will be held daily at The Bloom Garden and within the Ulun Danu Beratan tourist area.
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and The Bloom Garden are just a ten-minute drive apart. Thanks to the festival, more visitors are expected to explore the Bedugul area, which has so much to offer.
During the festival, tourists can take advantage of a special “Buy One Ticket, Get One Free” promotion. The ticket, priced at IDR 115,000 for international visitors, provides access to both Ulun Danu Beratan and The Bloom Garden.
Ulun Danu Beratan is one of Bali’s most picturesque temples, as breathtaking in real life as in photos. In fact, it’s one of Indonesia’s most iconic landmarks, famously featured on the IDR 50,000 banknote!
Seemingly floating above the serene waters of Lake Beratan, the temple sits 1,500 meters above sea level. Visiting the temple early in the morning, when the highland mist envelops the water and drifts over the mountain slopes, is a truly unforgettable experience.
The temple was built in honor of Dewi Danu, the Balinese goddess of water, lakes, and rivers. The Ulun Danu Beratan complex consists of four structures, the most recognizable being Pura Puncak Mangu, dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
For botany enthusiasts, the Bali Botanic Garden is also worth a visit and can easily be explored in a single day.
If you’re looking to diversify your Bali experience, you can also plan a round of golf at Handara Golf & Resort Bali, just 15 minutes from The Bloom Garden. Alternatively, visit the Handara Iconic Gate, one of Bali’s most Instagrammable spots. Exploring Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, known as the Twin Lakes, is another excellent way to immerse yourself in nature in a peaceful setting.
