Magnum Resort Construction in Bali Stalled Over Missing Permits

Authorities in Bali have stopped the construction of the large-scale project Magnum Resort Berawa. The reason is the lack of mandatory permits.

Magnum Resort is being promoted as a premium resort with the world's longest rooftop pool (190 meters), apartments with jacuzzis on balconies, restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, and a co-working space. The complex is being built just five minutes from Berawa Beach, surrounded by well-known clubs Atlas and Finns.
However, the project gained notoriety not just because of its ambitious promises. Construction has been halted for a second time due to violations. At the end of August, members of the regional DPRD Bali council conducted a surprise inspection and discovered that the developer still lacks key documents. These include an environmental assessment (Amdal), a building permit (PBG/IMB), a sanitary certificate (SLHS), a license to use groundwater (SIPA), an ecological permit, and a Hinder Ordonantie (HO) permit.
After the inspection, police tapes were placed around the construction site again. Authorities emphasize that the work will remain frozen until the documents are sorted.
The land for the project is officially leased from the province until 2052, with conditions reviewed every five years, and there are no issues in this respect. The main issue is that construction is being carried out without the necessary legal and environmental support, which is a serious violation.
