In Bali, officials ordered the construction of a hotel in Cepaka, Tabanan, to be halted. The site is located next to the Penet River. An inspection found several violations: the building does not match the permit, exceeds the permitted height, and encroaches on the river zone.

The project in question is Hotel Amazone Jungle by Coco. According to the construction documents, the building should have two storeys. Bali’s parliamentary committee for spatial planning, assets and permits counted almost seven. The height limit in this area is 15 metres, and the committee says the project exceeds it.
A separate issue is the riverbank of the Penet River. The plot was reinforced with a retaining wall, but such work requires a recommendation from the agency responsible for river basins. The project did not have the required document.
The Tabanan authorities had already sent warnings to the developer. A third letter ordering work to stop was also issued, but people continued working on site anyway. The local public order unit put control tape around the site.
Construction has been halted until the developer brings both the paperwork and the site itself into compliance with the rules. Otherwise, the authorities do not rule out demolition and other sanctions.
A representative of Amazone Jungle Villa by Coco said the company is ready to cooperate with the authorities and complete the documentation. In the village of Cepaka, they note that the project provides jobs and takes part in local programmes.
