Berawa Beach Gets Surprise Inspection — What’s Next?

The Balinese authorities conducted a sudden inspection at Berawa Beach (Tibubeneng) - from the construction of Pantai Berawa Resort to major clubs like Finns Beach Club and Atlas Beach Club.

Bali Governor Wayan Koster, along with Badung District Head Adi Arnawa, arrived to assess the real impact of businesses on the coast and understand what needs to change immediately.
The Badung administration was instructed to tidy up the coastal strip: ensure free access to the ocean, create proper parking facilities, separate waste collection and recycling, and install solar power stations. These requirements should be incorporated at the design stage, not after opening.

The inspections are planned to be regular to promptly prevent violations — from zoning discrepancies to blocking access to the beach.
The head of Tibubeneng, I Made Kamadjaya, noted that the unannounced format helped to see the real situation and highlighted that local authorities don't always have enough control mechanisms. He hopes that new projects will consider ecology, culture, and residents' interests: "We are open to investors if the shore remains a shared space."
