Benoa Port Sets New Record with Three Cruise Liners Docked Simultaneously

Benoa Port in Bali has achieved a new milestone, welcoming three international cruise ships at the same time: Silver Nova, Queen Elizabeth, and Viking Sky—each remarkable in size and capacity. This accomplishment highlights the port’s readiness to handle large vessels and underscores its growing potential in marine tourism.
• Silver Nova (244 meters) brought 1,185 passengers. Launched in 2023, this modern luxury liner features 10 decks, 364 cabins, and a crew of 556. It operates on routes across Europe and South America.
• Queen Elizabeth (293 meters) arrived with 2,927 tourists. This majestic cruise ship, renovated in 2018, has a displacement of 90,900 tons, 7 residential decks, and 38 cabin categories. It offers worldwide cruises, including round-the-world voyages.
• Viking Sky (228 meters) disembarked 1,311 guests. Launched in 2017, it has 10 decks and primarily sails through Europe, covering Scandinavia, the Baltic, and the Mediterranean—with stops in Norway’s fjords, Russia, Greece, Turkey, France, Italy, and Spain.
To put it into perspective, transporting the same number of passengers by air would require 31 flights on Airbus A320s, each with a capacity of 180 people.
In 2024, Benoa Port hosted 56 cruise ships, and with ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the number is expected to increase further. These improvements are unlocking new opportunities for Bali’s marine tourism sector.
Authorities are now focused on maximizing the port’s potential, aiming to develop it into a major cruise hub. If successful, this will significantly impact the economy and tourism in nearby Sanur and Nusa Dua, which stand to benefit from the increasing influx of international travelers.
