Bali received an award at the 19th China Travel Awards in Shanghai. The island was recognised as one of the top tourism regions by China’s Travel+Leisure.

Indonesia also made the list of leading destinations, alongside Australia, the Maldives, South Africa, Thailand and Turkey.
For Bali, this is an important signal. China is once again becoming one of the island’s key markets. In 2025, 1.34 million tourists from China visited Indonesia. More than a third of them travelled to Bali — 536,813 people.
The growth is continuing in 2026. In February, Indonesia welcomed 150.8 thousand Chinese tourists — 69% more than a year earlier. More than half entered via Ngurah Rai Airport.
In February, 78,849 tourists from China visited Bali. This was the only market in the top five that grew noticeably compared with January. Australia, India, South Korea and Russia declined that month.
Travel+Leisure China targets affluent travellers rather than the mass market. The island continues to stand out in China not only as a beach destination, but also as a place for more upmarket holidays.
