Bali International Hospital Hits 6,000 Patients in Half a Year

Bali International Hospital in Sanur, part of the Pertamina Bina Medika Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC), has treated 5,960 patients since its opening on April 14, 2025. Of these, 38% are Indonesian citizens and 62% are foreigners, mainly tourists and expats from Australia, the USA, and Saudi Arabia.

The clinic in the Sanur special health economic zone has also attracted patients from Malaysia and Singapore who have redirected their treatment to Bali.
One of the key goals is to increase the proportion of local patients, including those who previously sought treatment abroad. Since the opening, this figure has risen from 20% to 38% and continues to grow. From April to October 2025, the hospital handled 9,155 outpatient visits, registered 1,761 emergency visits, conducted 947 comprehensive check-ups, 1,281 rehabilitation courses, and 685 hospitalizations.
The official opening took place on June 25, 2025, with the participation of President Prabowo Subianto. The hospital specializes in cardiovascular, oncological, neurological, and musculoskeletal diseases. Its development is strategic: annually, about 2 million Indonesians go abroad for medical treatments, leading to a currency outflow of around 150 trillion rupiahs. A strong base in Bali is expected to reduce this flow and strengthen the country's position in medical tourism.
The government and IHC are developing partnerships with foreign embassies, promoting premium medical services, and positioning Bali as an international health center. Since May, oncologists from Singapore and vascular surgeon Rio Marnoto, who has 24 years of experience in Germany, have been providing consultations at the hospital.
The tourist flow to the island remains stable at 20,000–23,000 people per day; by the end of the year, up to 7.1 million foreign guest visits are expected. This creates a foundation for turning Bali into a world-class destination for both tourism and healthcare.
