Bali now has its own domain on the internet — .bali. The provincial government and the Indonesian Domain Name Management Association (PANDI) have signed an agreement to launch the new extension. The island gets its own digital address, similar to major cities and regions around the world.

PANDI's head, John Simanjutak, says, 'It's not just a web address, but a symbol of identity that helps people and companies adhere to local values and attract attention from abroad.'
Sites on .bali are immediately recognized as 'Bali-origin': this boosts tourists' trust and helps differentiate official resources from fakes. For businesses, it's also a marketing tool: the domain enhances the presence of Balinese hotels, cafes, and tour operators in global search engines and provides them with a clear digital 'place on the map'.
.bali is currently in technical preparation. Authorities and PANDI are setting up the infrastructure, registration rules, and applicant verification, preparing the application for the international new domains program. Registration for ordinary users is not yet open, with the launch expected approximately in 2026.
It is expected that government agencies and key players in the tourism industry will be granted access to the domain first. After that, the zone will be opened to everyone who has a real connection with the island: local entrepreneurs, international companies, creative projects related to Bali.
A separate story is the domain in the Balinese script. PANDI launched it together with Udayana University. Thus, the Balinese language and traditional alphabet gain a real space on the internet, not only in museums and temples.

Simultaneously, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism has launched the AI chatbot MaiA based on the Google Gemini platform. The virtual assistant helps plan routes throughout the country, including Bali, and answers in several languages — from English to Chinese.
Indonesia is digitizing tourism: the .bali top-level domain and the Balinese script in the .id zone not only work for promotion but also for preserving the island's cultural identity on the global network.
