Between January and August 2026, more than 10 million people passed through Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.
Over the same period, immigration officers refused entry to the island to 574 foreigners.
The reasons varied. Some foreigners did not have the right visa, or their passport was valid for less than six months. Others were turned away because they were already subject to an entry ban. There were also people who tried to travel while listed in the Interpol database.
Over the same eight months, the immigration service barred 570 people from leaving the country — both foreigners and Indonesian citizens. The reasons included problems with documents, violations of the rules for hajj travel, attempts to leave illegally for work abroad, and existing travel bans.
In total, from January 1 to August 31, 10,229,948 people passed through the immigration checkpoint at Ngurah Rai Airport. Arrivals accounted for 5,101,550 border crossings and departures for 5,128,398. Compared with the same period in 2025, the overall figure fell by roughly 2%.
Most of the arrivals were foreigners — 4,639,196 people. By comparison, 318,294 Indonesian citizens passed through the immigration checkpoint over the same period. Another 144,060 border crossings were made by crew members.
The largest number of foreigners came from Australia — 1,171,531 people. Next came China with 418,373 and India with 363,940. Russia ranked sixth, with 189,432 arrivals.
