Four‑year‑old girl Adelaide Marigold “Goldie” Jessie is fighting for her life after falling from a tree‑house at a private villa in Bali. The accident left her with a fractured skull and brain bleeding. She underwent emergency surgery on the island before being flown to Adelaide, where she remains in intensive care at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Goldie’s aunt, Sophie McInnerney, noted that the child has already overcome significant odds once: born at 25 weeks, she spent her first 100 days in hospital. “She’s the bravest little soul we know, but the road to recovery will be long”, McInnerney said.
A GoFundMe campaign set up to help parents Nick and Carly cover medical and travel costs raised more than $59,000 in its first two days, with donations still coming in.
Friends, neighbours and strangers alike have rallied behind the family, offering messages of support and financial assistance as Goldie begins her long recovery journey.
The incident has also sparked renewed calls for travellers to ensure they have comprehensive travel insurance. This is especially important when visiting destinations like Bali, where emergency medical evacuation and specialist care can be extremely costly. Without proper coverage, families may face overwhelming financial burdens on top of emotional distress.
