Apple has launched the Apple Developer Academy in Tuban, Bali. This is the fourth educational institution the company has opened in Indonesia. The academy has welcomed over 100 students, aged 18 to 56, from 11 countries around the world.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations, stated that the opening of the academy aims to support developers, students, and entrepreneurs in gaining skills for a successful career in Indonesia’s growing iOS app industry and beyond. She emphasized that programming is a great way to make an impact, and the Apple Developer Academy will help more talented individuals in Indonesia bring their ideas to life.
Students will participate in a nine-month program covering programming fundamentals, design, marketing skills, and other aspects, including artificial intelligence.
The Bali campus is the first Apple academy in Indonesia to open its doors to international students. Foreign students can enroll in the academy if they are on the approved list and meet the eligibility requirements specified on the website.
Since the launch of the first Apple Developer Academy in Indonesia in 2018 in Jakarta, Apple has opened two more academies in Surabaya and Batam. Over 2,500 aspiring developers have completed the program, with 90% of graduates securing jobs in various sectors, including education, e-commerce, transportation, and sustainable development.
Apple’s recent expansion in Indonesia is also driven by the company’s efforts to navigate local regulations. Indonesian law requires companies to manufacture around 40% of device components within the country. This regulation previously led to a sales ban on Apple’s latest phone models. The company is actively negotiating with the Indonesian government and exploring collaboration opportunities to secure favorable agreements.
Unfortunately, student registration for this year has already closed, but the academy conducts annual enrollments. Stay updated via the official website. Registration details can be found at the provided link, and information about the next application cycle will be posted there as well. A student visa is required for enrollment.
