Apple Developer Academy Officially Opens in Bali

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has officially launched the Apple Developer Academy BINUS Bali — an international academy for developer training. This is part of Apple's investment commitments: according to local legislation, foreign electronics manufacturers are obliged to invest in the industry to have the right to sell their products in the country.

The academy is housed in the creative hub Park23 and has a capacity of 220 students per cohort. The program lasts nine months and is open to anyone over 18, regardless of their educational background. Foreigners are also welcome to participate — details are available on the official website.
Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita noted that the academy provides access to advanced programs and infrastructure, develops digital skills, innovative thinking, and world-class professional competencies.
Collaboration with Apple is formalized through a memorandum of understanding. It plans for the creation of new campuses, the launch of the Apple Innovation and Software Technology Institute, Apple Professional Developers Institute, and a software development center in collaboration with universities, including participation in the Indonesia Chips Design Collaborative Center initiative.
According to the ministry, in the first quarter of 2025, electronics and equipment production in Indonesia grew by 6.18% — faster than the economy as a whole. In 2024, nearly 49 million devices — smartphones, tablets, and laptops — were produced.
This is not the first Apple academy in Indonesia. Since the launch of such programs in the country, more than 2000 people have been trained, 89% of whom are already employed — in startups, banks, healthcare, and industry. Among the graduates' projects are HerLens, an AI service for early detection of cervical cancer, and PetaNetra — augmented reality navigation for visually impaired users.
