This was announced by Deputy Mayor I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa. According to the plan, the renovation will cover the streets of Gajah Mada (Jalan Gajah Mada), Hasanuddin (Jalan Hasanuddin), Sumatera (Jalan Sumatera), Thamrin (Jalan Thamrin), and Sulawesi (Jalan Sulawesi) in central Denpasar.
What will change:
1. Infrastructure: outdated concrete pavements will be replaced with more durable and aesthetically pleasing andesite stone.
2. Environment: on Sulawesi Street, a boundary revision will be conducted: all buildings will be moved at least 3 meters away from the riverbank to create a park area and address development violations.
3. Safety: street lighting will be significantly improved, which is especially crucial for developing evening and night tourism.
Local artists and youth are involved in the development of the concept to bring the city's vision of a ‘living ecosystem’ to life.
The key element of the new economic strategy is the development of street gastronomy.
The authorities are considering flexible zoning on Sulawesi Street, where traffic will be allowed during the day, and in the evening, it will be transformed into a pedestrian zone dedicated to street food.
'We hope we can implement a concept like this in Denpasar, allowing daytime and nighttime activities to coexist without interfering with each other,' noted Arya Wibawa.
