Qatar Airways was named the best airline in the world at the 2024 World Airline Awards ceremony. This is the eighth time in Qatar Airways' 25-year history that they have received the "Airline of the Year" title.
In addition to being named the world's best airline of 2024, Qatar Airways also received top honors in the categories of "World's Best Business Class," "World's Best Business Class Lounge," and "Best Airline in the Middle East."
Last year's winner, Singapore Airlines, took second place this time, with Emirates in third, ANA All Nippon Airways in fourth, and Cathay Pacific in fifth place out of more than 350 airlines surveyed.
Singapore Airlines received the top award for having the world's best cabin crew, and their first-class suites continue to amaze with their luxury, earning the award for the world's best first class. Singapore Airlines also received the award for the best airline in Asia.
Japanese airline ANA All Nippon Airways ranked 4th in the world ranking, repeating its previous success. Additionally, the carrier received the award for the best airport services in the world. ANA also received the award for the best service in Asia.
Saudi Arabian Airlines received the 2024 award for "World's Most Improved Airline," surpassing STARLUX Airlines, which took second place, and PLAY, which came in third.
AirAsia once again took first place in the "World's Best Low-Cost Airline" category, a title it has held every year since 2010.
Another Singaporean airline, Scoot, received the top award as the world's best low-cost long-haul airline.
Spanish airline Volotea was named the best low-cost airline in Europe, a significant achievement in such a competitive market. Transavia France took second place in Europe, while Vueling came in third.
British Airways received the award for the world's most family-friendly airline. This award considers factors such as family seating policies, family check-in options, priority boarding, children's meals, children's amenities/toys/activity kits, special in-flight entertainment for children, child baggage allowances and stroller/bassinet policies, as well as service standards from ground staff and cabin crew during family travel.
Plaza Premium received the award for the world's best independent airport lounge operator, with its lounge at Rome Fiumicino Airport ranking first in 2024.
Cathay Pacific received the award for the world's best economy class, while Japan Airlines received the award for the world's best premium economy class.
The best regional airline in the world is Bangkok Airways, for the eighth consecutive year.
In the India/South Asia region, Vistara was once again named the winner in the "Best Airline in India/South Asia" category, as well as the "Best Airline for Staff Service" in the region.
Fiji Airways was named the best airline in the Australia/Pacific region for the second time and also received the award for best staff service in the Australia/Pacific region.
Delta Air Lines was awarded the best airline in North America and also received the top award for best service in the region.
Air Transat was named the world's best leisure airline, an award the Canadian airline has now won five times. Ethiopian Airlines received the "Best Airline in Africa" award for the sixth consecutive year, Turkish Airlines was recognized as the best airline in Europe, Hainan Airlines was named the best airline in China, and airBaltic received the award for the best airline in Eastern Europe.
Turkish Airlines was also recognized for the highest standards in catering, winning the award for "Best Business Class Catering." Air France won multiple awards in 2024, receiving three accolades for best first-class catering, best first-class lounge catering (CDG), and best airline in Western Europe.
Star Alliance was named the world's best airline alliance and also received an award for the best alliance lounge, with the jury highlighting the new lounge at Paris airport.
