An organic cafe with quality food and decent coffee.
Pros:
- location, the cafe is located on the grounds of an authentic Balinese house (not a homestay). The house is not residential, but the owners come and hold religious ceremonies every Sunday and on major Balinese holidays
- Cozier to sit in the garden and more comfortable to work in; one downside is the smoking tables
- the cafe opened in the fall of 2016, became popular quite quickly and even changed its name - ex Veda Cafe
- menu based on healthy eating, quality ingredients, including fish and meat. Good selection and separate menu for vegans, paleo diet (low carb) and gluten free. The food and serving is a delight!
- Desserts of all kinds: classic (baked), vegan, raw food, gluten free, paleo diet, pastries made with BG banana flour: classic croissants and with chocolate, “curls” with cinnamon, different buns. One rule for all desserts: no wheat flour or white sugar.
- Specialty drinks: healthy smoothies with a “kaleidoscope” pattern of natural dyes, good coffee and organic tea grown in Bali in an eco-friendly area (available at the cash register), and an awesome selection of detox shots/tonics, you can choose a set of 6 shots for 100k.
Cons:
- to the bill + 15% tax
- in the main hall the tables are quite dense and when there are a lot of people (and there are always a lot!) it can be noisy, it's hard to concentrate and work.
What to try?
1. Summer salad - light but hearty vegetable salad, with a lot of everything and Instagram feed!
You can add chicken, fish or tempeh for heartiness.
2- Healthy bowl - awesome and nutritious! Vegetable bowl with a side dish of a mix of millet, buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa and sorghum,
assorted fresh vegetables, roasted pumpkin and pickled tempeh. “Complete” with beet hummus, babaganoush (eggplant puree), sauerkraut and garlic tahini.
3. Thai green curry - spicy green curry with tri-colored rice and tamarillo chutney sauce.
4. Mint chocolate cheesecake (ahhhhh, how beautiful it is) and turmeric carrot cake.
