A 56-year-old Swiss citizen was killed under the wheels of a truck on the main street of Kintamani. The vehicle reportedly lost control due to brake failure.
Investigators determined that the truck, with license plate DK 8227 CL, was driven by 27-year-old Arlansia from the city of East Waringin, East Kalimantan province. At the time of the accident, he was transporting construction materials—ceramic tiles and paint. In the passenger seat were 35-year-old Yusup Tamo Ama from the island of Sumba, West Nusa Tenggara province, and Risky Agung Pratama from East Java.

Initially, the truck driven by Arlansia was moving from south to north along the Kintamani-Singaraja road. However, on a downhill stretch near the village of Bantang, the heavy vehicle lost control, and the driver was unable to slow down due to brake failure. At that moment, the truck struck a pedestrian who was standing on the roadside. After hitting the foreigner, the truck continued moving and fell into a ravine about 5 meters deep.
The head of the Bangli police traffic unit, Ipda Ketut Karya, reported: “The pedestrian, who was a Swiss citizen, sustained an open head wound from the impact and died on the way to the hospital.” The driver suffered abrasions on his knees and bruises on his arms, while the passengers had chest contusions.
The Swiss tourist, who became the victim of the accident, had been picked up from the airport by a taxi driver shortly before the tragedy. He was on his way to Buleleng, but along the route, the passenger asked to stop the car and stepped out to take some pictures of the Kintamani landscape.

At the request of the Swiss consulate, the foreigner’s body has been temporarily placed in the Ngurah General Hospital in Denpasar, with arrangements being made to return the body to his homeland.
By the end of 2023, it was revealed that Bali’s roads had become the second most dangerous in all of Indonesia, with only East Kalimantan province recording more traffic accidents than the island paradise.
