The 16th Bali Provincial Sports Games (Porprov Bali 2025) have ceremoniously begun. The opening symbol was a relay of the “Olympic” flame, lit right in the crater of the sacred Mount Batur.

The lighting ceremony took place at the Pura Pasar Agung Batur temple in Kintamani. Bangli's Vice Regent I Wayan Diar initiated the procession, emphasizing that the flame, derived from the sacred source, symbolizes the purity, strength, and indomitable spirit of the athletes and the entire Balinese community.
The honor of carrying the torch first went to a ballroom dancing participant from Bangli. The relay route covers almost the entire island — from Bangli through Gianyar, Klungkung, Karangasem, Buleleng, Jembrana, Tabanan, and Badung to the final point in Denpasar. The torch literally unites Bali, carrying the flame from the heart of the sacred mountain to every region.
The official opening of Porprov Bali took place on September 9 at the Ngurah Rai Stadium in Denpasar. The games will feature 4,670 athletes competing in 48 sports and 56 disciplines, including dance sport and gymnastics, martial arts, football, volleyball, cricket, rock climbing, chess, diving, cycling, and more.
Some competitions have already started on August 28 and will continue until September 17.
