Tanjung Benoa is once again discussing a dedicated building for tsunami evacuation. At the moment, the area mainly relies on multi-storey hotels, but they do not have enough capacity.

Tanjung Benoa is a low-lying coastal area with no natural high ground. There are very few places where people can quickly move to higher ground. Nine hotels over 14 metres high are suitable for evacuation. However, together they can only accommodate about half of the people who may need shelter. More than 6,000 people live in the area, in addition to tourists and visitors.
A site for the new building has already been allocated. It covers about 2,600 square metres in a residential part of Tanjung Benoa. If the project is built as a multi-storey evacuation centre, it will be able to accommodate up to 5,000 people.
The building is intended to be used not only in emergencies. In normal times, it could house a public space, a disaster management centre, and a training area.
At the same time, the area is developing the Ganasita QR navigation system. The idea is that a person can scan a code and see the nearest route to an evacuation point. The system should show not only the route but also how busy it is, and, if necessary, suggest an alternative way.
Tanjung Benoa has signs, evacuation drills are held, and schools and hotels are involved in evacuation plans. But without a dedicated building, this is not enough.
