Fans of fast riding and bike stunts will have to slow down — or prepare for deportation. Bali authorities have announced a new wave of action against irresponsible tourists violating traffic regulations. Dangerous driving, speeding, and stunts like "wheelies" (riding on the rear wheel) now risk not only fines but also deportation.

The measure is part of a comprehensive campaign to bring order among foreigners. Alongside reckless drivers, authorities are tackling theft, disrespect for local culture, and illegal work. The goal is to protect local residents and support sustainable tourism.
Bali senator Ni Luh Djelantik harshly criticized a tourist featured in a viral video: the footage shows a man without a helmet and shirt speeding through Canggu on the rear wheel of a bike.
"We don't need 'rubbish' tourists who don't respect Bali. This is no longer a matter of personal safety — it's about locals having to deal with the consequences of your stupidity," she wrote.
Djelantik also mentioned the financial aspect: "You rent a bike for 100,000 a day, break a leg — your family pays. If you die, the bike's owner loses money, and the village faces an expensive 'mekaru' ritual costing millions. Come to Bali with your mind and heart, not just your body."
Locals Demand Tough Measures
Local Dek Chipta admitted that he is afraid to go out at night: "Especially in Canggu. The main offenders aren't tourists here for a couple of weeks, but expats living here for months."
Lala, who works in the tourism business, adds: "Their stunts frighten people. They should be deported and banned from re-entry. Only then will we feel safe."
Police Raids

The immigration service and police have already started raids in Canggu and other popular areas. Offenders can be deported for even a single serious violation — without warnings.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster earlier stated: "No leniency for foreigners violating our laws."
Night patrols are now checking bikers for helmets, speeding, and participation in street racing. Bali authorities make it clear: tourists will now have to play by the rules — or go home.
