Scorching Heat Hits Bali: When Will Temps Cool Down and the Rainy Season Begin?

In recent weeks, Bali has become quite hot, especially during the daytime. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Denpasar, this is due to the sun's trajectory reaching its highest point in the sky starting from September 23, which has predictably caused a rise in air temperature.

This situation will persist for several more weeks until the sun’s path shifts further south. Currently, the average daytime temperature in Bali ranges around 27°C, with maximum temperatures reaching 32°C.
Ni Putu Lia Kahyani, a meteorologist from BMKG Denpasar, explained that the recent hot and sweltering weather has been caused not only by the sun's position but also by the absence of cloud cover over the island. As a result, solar heat directly reaches the surface, warming both the ground and the air.
"Temperatures in Bali fluctuate throughout the year between 22°C and 34°C, depending on the sun's position, which is a normal occurrence," she said.
Meteorologists report that there are no signs that global warming is contributing to the current temperature rise. According to Lia, the current heat on the island is part of the usual annual cycle.
The lowest recorded temperature in Bali was 18°C, and the highest was 40°C, though such extreme values are very rare. In general, Bali has a more favorable climate compared to other tourist destinations in Asia. For example, Phuket in Thailand is significantly hotter and more humid, while in Vietnam, popular destinations like Nha Trang can get quite cold during the winter.
If you're waiting for the end of the hot period, there is good news. The rainy season is expected to begin in Bali in about a month. Acting Head of BMKG, Dwikorita, shared the forecast for the 2024/2025 wet season. According to her, the rains will start between September and November, depending on the region of the country. In Bali, the rainy season will arrive in November.
The peak of the rainy season in 2025 is expected to occur in January-February. Bali is predicted to be among the areas receiving the most rainfall. According to Dwikorita, the 2024/2025 rainy season will not feature any unusual patterns and is expected to proceed as normal.
