Nyepi: When the Island of Bali Goes Quiet

On 19 March, Bali celebrates Nyepi — the day when the island comes to a complete standstill for 24 hours. The streets empty, transport stops, shops and cafés close, and in the evening the lights go out. In most places, even the internet is switched off.
