There is very little time left before the official opening of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH) in Benoa. The tourist area is preparing to mark the launch of a new development phase, and authorities are already sharing plans to turn the island into a regional center for maritime tourism.
After 2025, luxury cruises and private yachting are expected to become one of the main tourism trends. The multi-billion-dollar BMTH project promises to radically change Bali's maritime infrastructure and strengthen its position in Southeast Asia.
The development of the port is progressing rapidly: in 2023, 48 cruise ships with 78,214 passengers docked in Benoa, and in 2024 the flow increased to 120,980 people. It is expected that 2025 will set a new record.
With the opening of the hub, the port will be able to simultaneously accommodate more than 50 superyachts over 90 meters long. This segment already brings substantial income to the island: shipowners hire Balinese sailors and purchase fresh seafood at the markets in Sanur and Jimbaran.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa calls the project a 'catalyst' for establishing marinas across Indonesia — from Sabang to Raja Ampat, from Labuan Bajo to Morotai. The head of Pelindo Solusi Logistik, Joko Noerhudha, adds that the new marina will transform Bali into a support point for owners and charter companies.
With the launch of BMTH, Bali will compete with Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok for the title of leading luxury cruise tourism hub in the region. Travelers will have access to private charters, cruises with onboard accommodations, and themed yacht parties.
MyBaliTrips already has a fleet of premium vessels. For example, the three-deck Burjiman (17.5 m) turns the sea into a private villa: a king-size master cabin, two guest cabins, an air-conditioned salon, and a personal chef accompany romantic routes to Nusa Penida or Lembongan. The 22-meter catamaran Haruku is more suitable for larger groups: two tiers with a spacious lounge area, speeds up to 24 knots, and a capacity of up to 27 guests make it an ideal setting for day parties and long-distance trips. Both yachts offer designer interiors and five-star hotel-level service, highlighting that luxury in Bali now begins right from the gangway.
