Local Celebrity Child was Beating by Nanny

A brutal case of beating a 3.5-year-old child occurred in the city of Malang (East Java) at the home of Indonesian popular beauty blogger Agnia Punjab and businessman Reinukki Abidharma. According to the lawyer of the suspect, the cause of the incident was the nanny's stress due to constant salary delays.

The incident occurred on March 28 around 04:18 in the victim's house. The nanny informed the parents that their child was injured after falling from the bed, with bruising around the left eye, a bruise on the upper forehead, and scratches on the face and ears. The girl was immediately taken to the hospital. At the time of the incident, several other workers were present in the house, but no one heard anything. They were on another floor, and the child's room was locked. The celebrity herself was in Jakarta.
After the incident, the parents checked the footage from the surveillance camera in the room and saw what really happened. They posted a video of the nanny beating the child on their Instagram account @emyaghnia.
The detained nanny is a 27-year-old resident of East Java named Inda. The Malang police conducted a psychological examination of her. When asked why she did it, the accused replied that she had no money, her salary was not paid, and her family urgently requested funds for the treatment of her sick younger sister. She allegedly experienced psychological stress and lashed out at the child at one moment.
The accused's salary was 3.5 million Indonesian rupiahs per month (approximately 220 dollars). When asked how many times her payments were delayed, the nanny stated that she couldn't count anymore; it happened constantly over the past year. According to her, there were only promises in response to all demands, while she genuinely needed the money.
In turn, the famous mother denies allegations of salary payment delays. In her Instagram Stories, she shows evidence of transfers confirming that payments were always made on time.

The celebrity also mentioned that over the past year, she noticed some suspicious moments, such as marks from pinches on the child's body, but she couldn't assume the nanny was responsible since she was always very polite. Agnia also claims that besides physical injuries, the child experienced psychological abuse, which now manifests in nightmares.
The nanny has been detained and charged under Article 80 paragraph 2 of Law No. 35 of 2014 on violence against children. Under this article, she could be sentenced to up to five years in prison and fined up to 100 million rupiahs.
Heri Budi, the lawyer providing legal assistance to the accused, added that although public opinion is divided on this case, as a lawyer, he is convinced of the need to ensure all accused receive lawful defense and support in court.
And we would like to add from ourselves: hiring a nanny is a very responsible moment. Therefore, without thorough recommendations from previous employers, it is not advisable to entrust your children to strangers, let alone leave them alone. In addition, it is important for parents to understand that the mental health of childcare workers directly affects the quality of care they provide. A decent, timely-paid salary and respectful treatment will ensure peace of mind in your family. Just as video surveillance cameras when you're not around.
