The final of the Indonesian Surfing League has wrapped up at Pererenan Beach (Pantai Pererenan) near Canggu.

Bronson Meydi and Kaya Jo Hoyer won the shortboard divisions. Meydi, the 2024 World Surf League junior world champion, also earned the highest wave score of the event: a 9 out of 10 from each of the three judges.
Surfers compete in 20-minute heats, each wave is scored out of 10 points, and the two best waves count. In the final on 22 October, Meydi scored 13.33 out of a possible 20. To overtake him, Dhany Widianto needed a 6.34 wave in the closing minutes, but he couldn’t find one and finished second. Last year’s champion, Ketut Agus, came fourth.
Meydi got his nine in the semifinal, where he scored 16.60, the highest heat total of the event. That same heat saw the elimination of Made Pajar Ariana, a silver medallist at this year’s Asian Games. In the quarterfinal, Widianto beat his opponent by just 0.04 points.

Hoyer reached the deciding heats in two categories at once. She first took third place in the girls’ under-18 division, then about twenty minutes later went out in the open women’s final and won it. There she scored 8.33 points for a single wave, the highest wave score anyone received in the deciding heats. In September, Hoyer reached the quarterfinals of the Asian Games.
In the longboard divisions, the winners were the same Widianto and his sister Dea Natasya Novitasari, both for the fourth time in a row. Second place among the women went to Aura Zeflin, who also won the girls’ under-18 division. In May, Dea became the first Indonesian woman to break into the World Surf League longboard world tour.
Pererenan is suited to experienced surfers, and this is the third time the league has ended its season here, after 2022 and 2025. Over three days, the judges scored 1043 waves, and only 11 of them received eight points or more.
The top four club surfers in each category from the qualifying events advance to the final. This year, athletes representing provinces and Indonesian surfers from the World Surf League also took part. There were 123 entries in total, with some surfers competing in two categories. The league final carries the most weight in the national rankings: 10,000 points.
