From July 3, Indonesia introduced a visa-free regime for passport holders from Brazil and Turkey. The decision is outlined in the Decree of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights No. 9/2025, issued in implementation of Presidential Decree No. 95/2024 on visa-free travel.
The immigration service explained that the new rule is based on the principle of reciprocity: both countries have already exempted Indonesians from visas. Moreover, the authorities considered the benefits for tourism and the economy, as well as national security issues.
Visitors from Brazil and Turkey will be allowed to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days. It is not possible to extend the stay or obtain another type of permit after entering the country. The visa-free regime can only be used for tourism, business meetings, or short-term medical treatment.
In addition to Brazil and Turkey, citizens from 13 other countries can enter without a visa (under the same conditions): Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Suriname, Colombia, and Hong Kong.
The immigration authority emphasizes that they will closely monitor entrants. If abuses are detected, the government reserves the right to review or revoke the relaxation.
