Indonesia is making a big splash this week in Mumbai at ITB India 2025 (September 2–4). The message is loud and clear: the archipelago is ready to welcome more Indian travelers than ever before. The Ministry of Tourism has set an ambitious goal of attracting 800,000 visitors from India this year, strengthening Indonesia’s position as one of the top tropical destinations for leisure, culture, and wellness.

ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Börse) is one of the world’s leading travel trade shows. ITB India is the edition tailored specifically for the booming Indian outbound market, bringing together travel professionals, tour operators, airlines, and destinations from around the globe.
To build momentum ahead of the event, the Ministry of Tourism recently hosted Business Matching sessions in Kolkata and Bengaluru, connecting 29 Indonesian travel sellers with Indian buyers. These meetings were all about creating new partnerships and sparking demand for Indonesian destinations across the subcontinent.
“India is one of the fastest-growing outbound markets, already ranking as our fifth-largest source of international arrivals”, explained Dedi Ahmad Kurnia, Assistant Deputy for International Tourism Marketing. “Through ITB India, we aim to strengthen Indonesia’s brand and ensure that our destinations remain top-of-mind for Indian travelers”.
At the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion in Mumbai, visitors will meet 20 leading sellers from Jakarta, Bali, and Yogyakarta, alongside immersive experiences designed to showcase the country’s diversity. While Bali remains the star attraction, the spotlight also shines on Indonesia’s 10 Priority Destinations — from the volcanic landscapes of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park to the underwater paradise of Raja Ampat, the spiritual majesty of Borobudur, and the wild beauty of Labuan Bajo.
Wellness is another major theme. Visitors can sample jamu, Indonesia’s traditional herbal drink and take part in batik workshops or enjoy daily cultural performances. These experiences bring to life how heritage and creativity come together in Indonesian tourism.
“Indonesia is naturally aligned with wellness tourism thanks to our ancient healing traditions, diverse cultures, and breathtaking landscapes”, said Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy Minister for Marketing. “Our presence at ITB India is not just about destinations — it’s about inspiring Indian travelers to experience Indonesia in deeper, more meaningful ways”.
With India’s outbound travel market expected to hit 29 million international trips by the end of 2025, Indonesia’s strong showing at ITB India makes it clear: the archipelago is ready to welcome Indian tourists looking for nature, culture, and transformative travel experiences — whether that’s on the beaches of Bali or far beyond.
