Visa Overstay Penalties in Bali (2024 Update)

Extending your visa on arrival, tourist, and social visas officially costs 500,000 IDR.
You must apply for an extension:
- One week before your visa on arrival expires,
- Two weeks before a social or tourist visa expires.
Visa extensions can be facilitated by numerous visa agents in Bali, offering streamlined services to minimize trips to immigration offices. The total cost of visa extension through agents, including their service fee, ranges from 800,000 to 1,050,000 IDR.

Overstay Penalties

Overstaying beyond the visa's validity period results in a penalty of 1,000,000 IDR per day.
Overstay fines for short overstay periods are settled at passport control upon departure, sometimes presenting opportunities to negotiate reductions.
Overstaying for more than a month may lead to immigration blacklisting, which can bar entry to Indonesia for over a year.
Overstays exceeding two months require special documentation and payment at the immigration office, rather than at the airport.
Note that overstay rules, including potential penalties such as deportation and blacklisting, apply to everyone, including children.

Calculate Your Visa Duration and/or the Number of Days Overstayed

Ensure accurate calculation of your stay in Indonesia. Counting begins from your entry day, which is considered the first day, and includes the day you depart.
To calculate the number of days you spend in Indonesia, use this tool:
1. Enter your arrival date.
2. Check "Include end date in calculation (1 day is added)."
3. Enter the date when you plan to exit the country or the estimated date of your visa expiry.
The calculator will compute the total number of days between these dates, including both the first and last day entered. This helps accurately determine your visa's expiration date and calculate any potential overstay days if needed.
Note that visa rules are subject to change, so it's important to stay informed about the latest updates to avoid violations.
We recommend consulting a visa agent about your situation, as they can often help find reasonable solutions.
