The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Park (GWK) in Ungasan announced the GWK Bali Countdown 2026 program. On the night of December 31 to January 1, they plan to fire 12,000 fireworks bursts in about five minutes. They will launch from three points — behind the stage, to the left, and to the right, so that the lights almost surround the spectators.

According to GWK's Operations Director, Ch. Rossie Andriani, this is already the fifth consecutive New Year's show in this format. The launch scheme changes every year: this time, the fireworks are spread across several sites, and the park aims to establish itself as the main New Year's fireworks location in Bali.
The program includes not only fireworks. The stage will feature local celebrities: MALIQ & D’Essentials, Lomba Sihir, Lolot, Navicula, Whisnu Santika & MC Drwe, with the hosts being Duo Giga. Alongside the concert, from December 26 to January 3, the MyMelali x Pasar Keliling fair will take place with hundreds of local UMKM and a special performance by the Sunar Sanggita music school, where blind teachers lead the instruction.
As a separate segment, there is a souvenir trophy for collectors: Kencana Souvenirs sells a limited-edition GWK 2026 coin, minted once a year. Owners of the 2025 and 2026 coins can present them at the event for a chance to win prizes.
Tickets — Regular and VIP in limited numbers. VIP allows closer access to the stage, glow accessories, a goodie bag, a beverage voucher, and a Buy 2 Get 2 promotion. Jendela Bali restaurant offers a New Year's Eve dinner with a three-course set menu, a cocktail, and a VIP ticket to the show from a viewing point.
How the fireworks were launched before
Fireworks at GWK have long been a distinctive 'feature' of New Year's Eve.
- During Bali Countdown 2024, 8,888 bursts were launched into the sky in about five minutes — the number '8' was presented as a symbol of luck, and the show was valued at over 1 billion rupiah.
- For Bali Countdown 2025, about 4,000 bursts were planned, focusing on the fireworks pattern over the statue of Vishnu and Garuda, and the overall duration of the show.
The standard is now set at 12,000 bursts from three points, with organizers emphasizing that the fireworks will effectively 'surround' the site.
What authorities say about 'homemade' fireworks
Amid large official shows, Bali police simultaneously remind the public: it's better to refrain from improvisations with pyrotechnics.
At the end of 2023, Polda Bali issued a statement: the night of 2023 to 2024 — without firecrackers, requesting residents and tourists not to use explosive fireworks outside designated areas. The agency cited the Emergency Law No. 12/1951 and Article 187 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning the use of explosives.
The Denpasar Selatan District Police in December 2025 specifically warned: for the New Year, they are increasing patrols and asking not to launch fireworks near temples, buildings with thatched/grass roofs, or densely populated areas to prevent fires.
Massive salvos and powerful charges — on official venues with approvals, fire trucks, and medical professionals present. The authorities wish to see maximum 'quiet' formats that don't turn the New Year into a fire incident report in neighborhoods and on beaches.
