From April 1st the Pura Agung Besakih Temple is Increasing Ticket Prices

The most important temple in Bali, Pura Agung Besakih, often referred to as the "Mother Temple," is not only the main sanctuary for locals but also a highly popular tourist attraction. Even during the low season, up to 1000 people visit here daily. On religious holidays, the number of visitors increases even more. Villagers from all over Bali come here to perform ceremonies and make offerings to the gods.

Tourists are not allowed to enter the religious buildings directly, but they still have access to about 3 kilometers of the area and 22 ancient temples. According to some sources, the first structures on this site were built over 2000 years ago. However, experiencing this historical immersion will now come at a higher cost.

Starting from April 1st, ticket prices will change. Foreigners will have to pay 150,000 rupiahs instead of 90,000, while tickets for domestic tourists will cost 80,000 instead of 50,000.

Gusti Lanang Muliarta, the head of the agency managing the sacred zone of Pura Agung Besakih, explained that this price increase was agreed upon with all stakeholders, including representatives of the traditional village of Besakih. The main goal is to improve the level of tourist services and work on safety at the site. After all, Pura Agung Besakih is a very large area, and the temples located on it have immense spiritual significance for Balinese Hindus. Therefore, the sanctuary requires increased security and better infrastructure, especially during ceremonies and festivals.

Muliarta added: "Thanks to this increase in ticket prices, we can further improve services, amenities, and other things for the comfort of visiting tourists. Guests can immediately receive assistance from local guides, sarongs, and even electric vehicles, and toilets are also available to them."

Muliarta confirmed that all tour operators were informed about the ticket price increase, so those who paid for one-day trips in advance will not be asked to compensate for the price difference on that day.

The price increase at Pura Agung Besakih is the highest compared to the rates of other attractions, where prices have also changed this year.

For example, at Tanah Lot Temple, also very popular among tourists, the price has only increased by 15,000 rupiahs. Now, the adult ticket for a foreigner costs 75,000 instead of 60,000.

Although not as significant as Pura Besakih, ticket prices have also increased this year at Lempuyang Temple, better known to tourists as the Gates of Heaven. For domestic tourists, prices have increased from 30,000 to 40,000 rupiahs, and for international tourists, from 55,000 to 70,000.
