In northern Bali, police arrested British citizen Aaron Mishel. He is suspected of stabbing an employee of the Menjangan Dynasty Resort in the village of Pejarakan, Buleleng.
The man arrived at the resort in a white Suzuki Fronx. Staff asked whether he wanted to check in or go to the café. A receptionist then approached him and explained the visitor rules.

The conversation quickly escalated into a confrontation. At one point, the man pulled out a knife. The attack was captured on CCTV. The victim suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital.
After the attack, the suspect drove towards Gilimanuk. As this is one of the main routes off Bali to Java, Buleleng police shared the alert with colleagues in Jembrana and stepped up checks at the port.
He was arrested in the Gilimanuk area. Police found two knives, a phone, a passport, a driving licence and the car in his possession.
When he was arrested, the suspect smelled of alcohol. Police were unable to question him immediately: he was in an unstable condition and speaking incoherently. They are now looking into several possibilities — alcohol, drugs or a mental health issue. The UK consulate has become involved.
The exact motive has not yet been established. One preliminary theory is that the conflict began after a staff member refused to let him check in because of his condition. The victim has not yet been able to give a full statement, so police are relying on CCTV footage and witness accounts.
The case is being prepared under articles covering assault and possession of bladed weapons. The maximum sentence is up to nine years in prison.
