Yoga clothing shop Yoga Shanty on Jalan Hanoman in Ubud has posted CCTV footage showing a foreign woman putting four items into her bag over the course of about ten minutes and leaving without paying. The shop estimated the loss at Rp 2.5 million.
The woman came alone with a large white bag on 27 July at around 16:40. She took a pair of long trousers, a top, a miniskirt and a jumpsuit — all red.
The footage spread on social media on 28 July. Officers from the Gianyar Criminal Investigation Unit and Ubud Police then visited the shop, examined the scene, questioned staff and began working to identify the woman.
The shop did not file a police report: the video was posted to warn other shops. Gianyar police launched an investigation based on the widely shared footage, without a formal report.
Police have not yet disclosed the woman’s nationality, as they are still working to identify her.
