A 36-year-old Brazilian woman has been arrested at Ngurah Rai Airport after about 3.6 kg of liquid cocaine was found in her luggage. She was carrying the drug in seven bottles that had originally held shampoo and body care products.
She was stopped in the arrivals area of the international terminal. Customs officers found the passenger's suitcase suspicious, called in officers from the narcotics unit and opened it in her presence. Including packaging, the seized substance weighs 3659.9 grams.

During questioning, the woman said she was a courier. The person who hired her, identified by police only by the letter G, promised her 50,000 dollars, about 895 million rupiah, to deliver the drugs to Bali. Once on the island, the shipment was to be collected by one of his associates.
G paid for her tickets and accommodation. The woman flew out of Brazil on October 5 and was due to fly home on November 3.
She has been named a suspect in the possession and import of narcotics and is being held in custody at Bali Police headquarters. She faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment.
Investigators are searching for the suppliers and the intended recipient of the shipment. According to police, this is one of the largest seizures of liquid cocaine in Bali in recent times.
In April, a Kazakh citizen was arrested at the airport with 2.5 kg of powder hidden in the lining of his suitcase.
