The contraband was discovered during an in-depth personal search of the 46-year-old passenger, identified by the initials G.E. According to her statement, she works as a beautician and was allegedly paid USD 3,000 to transport the cocaine from Mexico to Bali.
The woman was apprehended shortly after disembarking, following intelligence and surveillance efforts by customs officials. Officers first searched her luggage and then conducted a personal inspection. A suspicious package was found hidden inside her vaginal cavity, later confirmed through laboratory testing to be cocaine.
Part of a larger criminal network
Investigators have determined that the woman was acting as a drug mule for a major international criminal organization, tasked with transporting narcotics and handing them over to third parties on the island. Indonesia’s Customs Office and the National Narcotics Agency are currently working to identify other individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
Among those now under investigation is a 50-year-old British national, who has also been detained.
Street value exceeds 2 billion rupiah
According to authorities, the estimated street value of the confiscated cocaine in Bali exceeds 2 billion Indonesian rupiah (approximately USD 125,000–130,000).
