Fly Bali, a commercial helicopter tour provider on the island, has received a new level of certification that will allow it to expand its services—most notably by introducing skydiving to Bali’s growing list of adventure activities.
Founded in 2019, Fly Bali has built a strong reputation for meeting Indonesia’s strict aviation safety standards. With the recent issuance of its Air Operator Certificate (AOC), the company can now operate independently within the province, no longer needing to partner with third-party aviation operators as it did before.
Fly Bali founder Harriko Fesfusi commented, “One of the advantages of holding an AOC is that in emergency situations—such as fires—we can respond immediately without waiting for helicopters from other regions.”

He referenced the massive 2023 fire at the Suwung landfill near Sanur, which burned for over 40 days and sent acrid smoke all the way to Kuta and Canggu. With this new certification, Fly Bali can directly support local disaster management teams with aerial assistance.
Fly Bali is now the 81st aviation operator in Indonesia to achieve this certification. Although the helicopter tourism industry has seen significant growth since the pandemic, it remains tightly regulated by Indonesian authorities.
Fesfusi also noted that Indonesia currently lacks clear regulations for skydiving, but with its new licensing status, Fly Bali is ready to become a pioneer in developing those guidelines.

Helicopter tours in Bali are increasingly popular, and Fly Bali is one of several companies offering luxury aerial experiences. One of its most sought-after packages is the “Air Love” proposal tour—a 12-minute scenic flight over the Bukit Peninsula, followed by a romantic landing where one partner pops the question.
While Bali already offers paragliding and parasailing, the introduction of skydiving promises to elevate the island’s adventure tourism scene even further. However, it may take time for Fly Bali to obtain the full range of permits and licenses required to launch the activity. In the meantime, thrill-seekers can try iFly Bali, an indoor skydiving simulator located in Trans Studio Bali theme park.
