Imagine arriving in Bali, disembarking from the plane, collecting your luggage at the airport... and heading straight to a taxi! But what about passport control and visa check? It’s all been taken care of—your face was scanned as you walked through the airport. Sounds like science fiction? Meanwhile, such a system is already in place in Indonesia.

Control checkpoints on a trial basis have been launched at airports in Jakarta and Surabaya, promising to radically change the lives of international travelers. The system is called 'Seamless Corridors'.
This is the world's first project of its kind: new biometric corridors allow AI technology to verify passengers' identities on the move.
If an arriving traveler from abroad meets all the criteria and has the right to cross the border, they will enter the country without even noticing: they won't need to present documents to immigration officers or even scan their passport at the autogate.
The technology has already been highly praised for its ability to significantly speed up the immigration control process, and for its accessibility to a broad range of users, including elderly travelers and people with disabilities.
Jakarta and Surabaya are first in line for the full implementation of seamless corridors. However, the congestion of Bali's airport and the growing number of foreign tourists suggest that the system might soon appear at Ngurah Rai Airport as well.
Earlier this year, the autogate system in Bali was already updated, reducing the time for immigration control for most tourists to just a few seconds.
