Pertamina, the state oil and gas company that runs petrol stations across Indonesia, raised the prices of three fuel types in Bali on September 1.
Diesel went up the most: Dexlite and Pertamina Dex each added around 20% per litre. Pertamax petrol and the subsidised Pertalite and Bio Solar kept their previous prices.
A litre of 98-octane Pertamax Turbo now costs 19,600 rupiah on the island instead of 18,300. Dexlite has risen from 19,700 to 23,700 rupiah, and Pertamina Dex from 21,150 to 25,200: both diesel grades added about 4,000 rupiah per litre.
Pertamax stays at 15,950 rupiah per litre and Pertamax Green 95 at 16,600. The subsidised Pertalite and Bio Solar remain at their previous levels: 10,000 and 6,800 rupiah.
Scooters run on Pertalite or Pertamax, and both grades kept their previous prices. The bill will go up for people who drive diesel cars and fill up with 98-octane petrol.
Pertamina explains the price revision for non-subsidised fuel by pointing to the government formula, which factors in world oil prices, the rupiah exchange rate and taxes.
