The Denpasar Immigration Office recorded 138 violations of immigration laws by foreign nationals in 2024, an increase compared to 104 cases in 2023.
According to Ridha Sah Putra, Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, 15 of these cases were related to online prostitution, while the remaining violations included:
• Overstaying visas – 64 cases
• Online fraud – 6 cases
• Failure to report changes in marital status – 2 cases
• Other offenses – 51 cases, including public order disturbances, assault, robbery, and visa misuse
Most offenders were from Russia, Nigeria, and Australia, all of whom were deported.
In 2024, the Denpasar Immigration Office also achieved a record-breaking non-tax state revenue of IDR 140.5 billion (USD 8.67 million). This revenue came from passport applications, residence permits, and visa services.
For foreign nationals, the office processed 45,082 residence permits, including:
• 9,215 temporary visit permits (ITK)
• 9,121 limited stay permits (ITAS)
• 893 permanent residence permits (ITAP)
• 25,853 visa-on-arrival extensions
The Denpasar Immigration Office oversees operations in Denpasar City and the surrounding regions, including North Badung, Gianyar, Klungkung, Bangli, and Tabanan. It is one of three immigration offices in Bali, along with Ngurah Rai and Singaraja offices.
Singaraja Immigration Office Deports 30 Foreigners in 2024
Meanwhile, the Singaraja Immigration Office deported 30 foreign nationals in 2024 due to public order violations and misuse of residence permits for work-related activities.
According to Hendra Setiawan, Head of the Singaraja Immigration Office, most of those deported were from China and Germany, along with:
• 3 from Russia
• 2 each from Australia, the UK, the US, France, and Serbia
• 1 each from Argentina, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Japan, Malaysia, Romania, Switzerland, and Taiwan
“For example, some refused to pay for salon services, abused alcohol, and were found sleeping in random places. Others fell ill and had no sponsor to cover medical expenses,” Setiawan explained.
Other violations involved using tourist visas for unauthorized work, such as:
• Conducting yoga classes
• Opening spa businesses
• Working as diving instructors
• Offering fishing tours
“Additionally, three foreigners were deported after serving prison sentences for general offenses,” he added.
Meanwhile, the number of foreign nationals arriving in Bali continues to rise. According to immigration checkpoint data from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali received 4,465,685 foreign visitors in 2024, marking a 22.62% increase compared to 2023.
